Prof. Chrispin B. O. Kowenje
Chrispin Kowenje is a Materials Chemist who focuses on the design, synthesis, and chemical tuning of materials for water management and bioenergy applications. Chrispin has mentored a number of students and fellow staff members in Chemistry. His research work have been funded by IFS, DAAD, NRF (K), NRF (S. Africa), DFID, MIF (Japan), JICA, and Future Earth. In water treatments, he concentrates on adsorbate-adsorbent interactions and generates bioethanol and biogas from cellulosic biomass. Chrispin has been in the working committee of International scientific Union (ICSU), Africa Future Earth Committee (AFEC), Future Earth, Exceed-Swindon network and East African Science and Technology Commission (EASTECO). Currently, Chrispin is the Director of the Future Earth East Africa Node (FEEAN). Thus he turns scientific insights into practical solutions that directly benefit communities. In this project, Chrispin will coordinate the activities in East Africa countries and applying his knowledge on research capacity building including Science Diplomacy.
